WEXFORD IRON COLUMN SON-T 70W, No Photocell
Wexford Iron Column had been installed since about 1995, before old Mercury Vapour lamp 125W with power overhead but now all are gone in Main Street area.

Dublin Road, Portlaoise
THORN ALPHA 4 SOX 135W, No Photocell
Thorn Alpha four SOX 135W were used a lot on along Dublin Road in Portlaoise and they use by group switched by SELC 841. They had installed since 1990 I think so and look working great and nothing damaged. I remember before Mercury Vapour Lamp with overhead plus main cable for power needs, now all old lanterns gone but power cable still on for resident and commercial needs.

Beechfield, Mountrath
PHILIPS XGS104 SOX 55W, SELC 841 Photocell
Philips XGS104 with SOX 55W and there are only five lanterns in Beechfield village because there are about 30 houses on that street so the ESB said they are using the electronic ballast to reduce energy. In Ireland the power supply is 220V ac.

Abbeyleix Road close to M7 Interchange, Portlaoise
PHILIPS SGS204 SON-T 250W, No Photocell
In the past there was no streetlight on the street, so now a new Philips SGS204 with SON-T 250W has been installed, no Photocell since 1996. Now the bowl is burned out.

Beechfield Estate, Portlaoise
RENLEY RENLITE SON-T 70W, No Photocell
There are about 22 Renlite Post Top lanterns in the estate. First installed new columns when estate was built in 1990 and one column has SELC 841 for switching all 22 lanterns in the group and still working as present.

Car Park on Ridge Street, Portlaoise
THORN BETA 2 SOX 55W, Photocell SELC DUMMY
Just new installed with Thorn Beta 2 SOX 55W with electronic ballast, SELC DUMMY Photocell, I cannot find any photocell for that. The lanterns are used for car park area only. In Ireland it is very popular to use the SOX 55W but never see SOX 35W in the country.

New Urbis K-LUX SON-T 100W is first installed in new estate scheme area and looking very nice and there is no photocell, I think it is group switched per estate.

PHILIPS SGS203 SON-T 150W, Photocell SELC DUMMY
There are lots of Philips SGS203 with SON-T 150W and the lanterns have a poor reflector and are only 8 metres in height. They were first installed using group switching for each street.

N8 and M7 Interchange, Portlaoise
PHILIPS SGS204 SON-T 250W, No Photocell
New lanterns were first installed on the interchange in 1996 with CU Phosco P555 with SON-T 400W. The ESB said that the High Mast Lanterns will not be used in Ireland anymore, so the Kildare Bypass was the last High Mast contract in Ireland. The reason given is light pollution around of county.

Abbeyleix Road Junction to Clonminam Industrial Estate
WRTL SISTELLAR SON-T 250W X 6, No Photocell
The old cross roads junction had a GEC Z SOX 135W . Now it is gone and replaced by a roundabout with a new column with WRTL SISTELLAR with six SON-T 250W no Photocell.It is group switched, and the lantern very good and very low pollution.

Main Street, Abbeyleix
WRTL PALACE SON-T 150W, No Photocell
New WRTL Heritage Lanterns Palace column with old history Heritage about 75 columns on Main Street with SON-T 150W without photocell, using the group switch on the side of Main Street. Previously old Thorn Alpha 3 MBFU 400W with power overhead but now all gone. You can see all news columns and pavement on the street had been refurbished.

Urbis ZX3 Zebra CDM-T 150W for traffic calming at the entrance to town, the signpost says traffic calming and reduce speed and the traffic island had first lanterns with Urbis Zebra shown. There are many lanterns around of Ireland only on National Roads.

THORN LEMNIS 65 SON-T 150W, No Photocell
Thorn Lemnis 65 lanterns on my first time to see that in county of Laois as I don’t see much around of Ireland. Only mostly use that lantern for private area not public street lighting. A new retail called Rathdowney, new centre which is designer outlet factory.
